April 2025
We started the month of April with great expectations! Yes, April is the month of our fundraising lunch and dinner. Many things are being prepared to welcome our guests and since the beginning of the year, everyone involved has been thinking about every detail for this incredible event.
During the month of March, the senior producers were involved in the recordings for the promotional video that will be shown during the event. In our video in Portuguese, I talked a little about our reach with shortwave, which has reached all four corners of the world, and about the various contacts we have received. I also talked about our work with social networks and finally about our app. If you don't know or haven't downloaded our app, you can do so in the Apple Store and Google Play.
In March, we started a daily post called: A Joyful Word and a Cup of Coffee. These posts are short Bible verses for daily meditation. The main idea is that our listeners and followers have a Bible verse for the day every morning and that they always visit our social networks to have this moment of meditation and involvement with the Word of God.
In our shortwave broadcasts, we continue working on the Spiritual Growth series with Allen Dutton Jr. This month we talk about the action of the Holy Spirit, how to receive Him and how to let Him act in our lives.
We are finishing the series for women called When Women Appear, with Fernanda Silva. We had a total of 40 audios reflecting on the women of the Bible and their lessons for daily life.
We continue to receive several contacts via email and WhatsApp. During the month of March, we received contact from China, Peru, the Philippines, Japan, Morocco, and of course Brazil. I would like to highlight the contact from Daniel Lustosa who said:
“Hello, My name is Daniel and a few days ago I discovered the radio frequency through shortwave. I am loving the radio’s Bible programming. I can pick up the signal with quality here in the interior of Pernambuco, Northeast of Brazil.
A big hug to everyone at the radio”
We also received a message from Adil Moumane from Morocco who said:
I am a high school teacher in Morocco, and my fascination with shortwave radio began during my adolescence. I was captivated by its ability to connect with distant stations and cultures, which inspired me to delve deeper into the world of radio. This passion has stayed with me, and I continue to enjoy listening to distant radio stations whenever possible.
May God bless you too and have a wonderful day.
Sincerely, Adil Moumane
May God bless you all, a great start to spring for those in the northern hemisphere and a good autumn for those in the southern hemisphere. May God be with you.
March, 2025
Good news from Brazil. Every month, I have received messages of encouragement and motivation from our listeners to continue broadcasting on shortwave radio, just as Rádio Palavra Alegre has impacted their lives over the past 6 years. Our loyal listener, Antônio Argolo, wrote us the following message:
Dear Romulo,
I am writing to mark World Radio Day, celebrated yesterday, to highlight its importance in the daily lives of our audience. Radio is a fast, reliable and essential means of communication.
I would like to add that, in addition to its informative nature, radio broadens human sensitivity to understand the world and build bonds of friendship. We can see this when we strengthen our faith and friendship by tuning into Rádio Palavra Alegre. Communicators and listeners of international broadcasts do not seem to be strangers; there is a human side that engages us with empathy and regardless of ideologies.
Since the beginning of 2025, I have received several gifts, including books, certificates and philatelic materials, sent by stations in places that I only know through radio. Last month, a friend of mine who listens to radio stations fulfilled his dream of visiting a Cuban radio station and, upon returning to Brazil, gave me a souvenir from that trip.
Who would have thought that, in a world reduced to virtuality, it would still be possible to receive personalized responses and physical materials via regular mail? Imagine the excitement of arriving at the WCB building in the US and seeing your own photo on the station's bulletin board? It is for these reasons that international radio has consolidated itself as an unprecedented and tunable phenomenon in global communication.
Therefore, the hobby of listening to radio stations brings us joy and many lessons. Perceptions indicate that beyond the noise of propagation there is a magical world, which invites us to sensitize the human side that exists within ourselves.
Here is the first report of this year, a big hug.

Our listener Ailton Miranda also said via WhatsApp:
How wonderful this work is, of taking the word of God to the four corners of the world.
Congratulations on the beautiful work!
Since I was a child, back when the internet didn't exist, my father had an old radio. In my city, there was no FM, so we listened to shortwave.
It's great to receive these reports from our listeners. It certainly encourages us to stay on this path and seek continuous improvement.
This month's news is the new daily posts that we will implement during the month of March. Our collaborator, André Magaldi, will be posting daily reflections on the book of Proverbs.
Our website www.palavraalegre.com.br will also feature the monthly article …. With reflections on …. So go ahead and check out the news!
Finally, this month we are celebrating another anniversary of our broadcasting park in Madagascar - Madagascar World Voice. May God continue to bless all our team and collaborators, a promise of an important work. Congratulations on 9 years, MWV!!
February 2025 A New Beginning
February 2025 A New Beginning
The month of January passed very quickly, even though we managed to
start the plans and projects proposed for this new year.
Bryan Basham held a meeting with the team of senior producers in the first weeks of January. We had the chance to have a brainstorm and some new ideas for the new year. Furthermore, God willing, we will soon have a new World Christian Broadcasting website and you can check it out soon at the link: www.worldchristian.org
In our broadcasts in Portuguese we continue with two series by Allan Dutton Jr. The first talks about spiritual growth, emphasizing its importance, what we need to do to achieve it and its benefits.
The other series is about 1 Peter where Allan discusses the context of the book and its applications in our lives. To listen to the series, follow us on short waves on frequency 9765 and soon on our Palavra Alegre app.
Another new feature this year is the new series aimed at women called When Women Appear, a series that brings applications about women in the Bible and their attitudes, bringing us to practical reflection.
We also continue translating and recording the series Encounters with Jesus by Gayle Crowe and also Prayer Lessons with Andy Baker.
During the month of January we received several contacts from Brazil and the world and I want to highlight some that we received from Portugal, our listener's name is Juan Array and he said:
"I'm a listener who lives in Madrid (Spain), I'm 64 years old and I worked as a chemical laboratory technician and dedicated more than 30 years to the hobby of listening to distant radio stations.
I am currently in Lagos, Algarve, Portugal.
Fortunately, I listened to your station and am sending this reception report.”
Juan Array
We also received contact from Francisco Geidson from Brazil and he said:
“I started liking radio when I was younger. I listened to Rádio Glod, Tupi and Radio Nacional do Rio de Janeiro on a 5-band device that belonged to my father. From 6pm onwards, the sound of the Radio arrived here in modulated medium wave amplitude. But I really saw people getting into shortwave in the 1980s, when a childhood friend of mine tuned in on his Hamarluh HQ-160 tube radio. I was radio crazy from then on.
I started with Voice of Germany, A Voice of America, BB in London, Rádio Record in São Paulo and Radio Nacional in Amazonia. I'm a little sad because many of these radio stations are migrating to Radio webs.”
Francisco Gleidson.
Finally, I want to encourage everyone to follow us on our social networks @Palavraalegre on Instagram, Palavra Alegre on Facebook and also download our app, just go to AppleStore or Google and type Palavra Alegre.
God bless you all and have a great February to all
The year 2025 is beginning and I would like to once again wish everyone a
happy and blessed New Year.
We are grateful to God for the year that has passed and we are grateful for another year that is
beginning! The Lord’s mercies are renewed every morning.
I would like to encourage everyone to access our new website, www.palavraalegre.com.br. We have a new design and new content, as well as updated Bible studies, so don’t miss this opportunity and access it right now!
Last month we had good news. The most important of them was the Baptism of our listener Mauricio Alves, who studied online with Angelo Souza and was baptized in the Church in São Paulo.
We are truly grateful to God for the opportunity to speak of Christ through the radio, a radio that enters countless homes and blesses lives!
We also sent gifts to the winners of our 6-year promotion in December. Mrs. Leotildes Francisca was the winner of the Companion Radio and Raquel Souza was the winner of the Bible.
Leotildes Franisca and Raquel Souza
In addition to these, we had 30 other winners of personalized pens that were sent to various parts of Brazil.
We were contacted by José Moreira, from Macau, China. He is Brazilian but went on a mission to the East. He told us:
“My daughter gave me a new shortwave radio. One day, after I got home from work, I sat in the garden and started tuning the radio. Suddenly, I tuned into the 31-meter band and received the transmission of Rádio Palavra Alegre.
I got very surprised and the joy that filled my heart. I am a missionary from the north of Minas Gerais, Brazil.”
We also received a call from Oslo, Norway, the listener’s name is Hallvard and he wrote:
“Thank you for your email. I look forward to receiving the QSL card.
When I was a teenager, I started listening to shortwave broadcasts using our family’s old home radio, made in the 1960s. My mother used to listen to Christian shortwave broadcasts from Trans World Radio using that radio.
Listening to shortwave stations opened a window to the world for me. I was fascinated by hearing unfamiliar languages, learning about faraway countries and listening to music from all over the world. South America in particular sparked my interest and inspired me to learn some Portuguese and Spanish. Later, I was able to visit some South American countries, especially Brazil.
I have been working on alcohol and drug research and have collaborated with other researchers in São Paulo and Porto Alegre. Some of them are now my friends and we visit each other regularly. I also have a friend who grew up in Belo Horizonte but now lives in the USA.”
Kind regards,
Hallvard from Norway
What a joy it is to hear so many life stories and how shortwave radio has connected people.
Finally, I wish everyone a great year and may God bless all our listeners, our team and collaborators.
