On May 22-25, my wife Raquel and I had the joy of being a part, for the first time, of the world’s largest gathering of communicators and ministry professionals known as National Religious Broadcasters Convention. My deepest appreciation and gratitude to Rex and Brenda Morgan, and Christian Production International, for making this possible. We really felt that this was a time well invested, as we learned hands-on-skills and insights from the people that are being successful at reaching people through media. We established key connections that we hope will help us along the way in our media ministry. We also hope to be able to influence and be of service to others in their ministries.
Bellow, there is an article written by Rex Morgan that summarizes well our experience at the NRB Convention.
A Time to Learn
Learning is a lifetime process. We continue to grow in our understanding of Jesus and how to spread His saving message today and in the future. Today we broadcast His message on the radio, Internet, our La Voz Alegre App, and social media. But, are we optimizing these outlets to reach and impact our listeners & other seekers of Christ in the most effective ways?
As we pray & research to know the answer to this very important question, we were blessed to attend the National Religious Broadcasters Convention, NRB, last week.
This gathering brings together experts in sharing Christ through media. It also brings together legal experts, content creators, broadcasters, and media visionaries.
Strategic Alliances to Reach Farther and Quicker
Some important messages that we learned or were reminded of by attending:
The social media landscape is always shifting.
- Personal engagement is vital.
- Ensure that our content, audio, and video messages are backed up in several places.
Understanding the culture of Christian media distribution.
- What Christian broadcasters look for to decide whether or not to broadcast a program.
- How to be good stewards of our time, resources, and talents while utilizing digital media to share Christ.
- How to be creative when the deadline pressure is on. It takes more than inspiration; it takes organization and discipline.
- How to protect your media ministry in the culture of today.
During the convention we were also blessed to become acquainted with people working in several media ministries who were willing to share their ideas and thoughts on how we may improve our content, reach a growing audience, and to stay technologically current.
Every time we have attended the NRB over the years, we have expanded our vision for outreach. We learn and improve on what we do to reach souls for Jesus through the media highways. Please pray that our Lord continues to help us launch the best media tools to share His saving message.
