Recently the UN sent out a report where Brazil fell 1 position in the Human Development Index ranking. The Human Development Index (HDI) is a unit of measurement used to measure the degree of development of a given society in terms of education, health and income.
Brazil’s position in this regard was no longer good and we were even further demoted. The Globo.com website report says that 1/3 of all wealth in Brazil is in the hands of the richest 1% of the population, thus inequality increases a lot.
The country with the best Human Development Index is Norway, followed by Switzerland and Ireland. Brazil is in position 79 and the United States in 8 position according to the report.
Human Development Index (HDI)
When we think about this aspect of a country’s developments, we may get discouraged and think that maybe there is no hope, but the Word of God tells us in 2 Chronicles like this:
If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place.
When we read this passage, our hearts are filled with hope, not just thinking about improving people’s lives in the earthly aspect, but thinking about God’s wonderful love and what he has prepared for all of us to come. A new year is starting, 2021, and after going through such a troubled 2020 it is comforting to be able to look with spiritual eyes at this new year that is just beginning.
The message described in the Bible says in Lamentations:
Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. (Lamentations 3:22,23)
Brazil and the world need is that hope, the hope that God’s mercy is renewed every morning and it is that love that WCB never tires of preaching. Be it in Portuguese with the Palavra Alegre Program, or in each of the other 6 languages and all to come.

Finally I want to end my WGO with an email we received from Antonio Silva Neto in which he says:
Our satisfaction in another contact to the time that I reiterate the congratulations on the second anniversary of the broadcasts in Portuguese of Rádio Palavra Alegre.
The celebration starts because of the excellent signal, it also extends to the station’s long-lived vows for its importance in spreading the word of God, in our language, through the Short Waves.
Congratulations to all the employees at work, in the certainty that the message can reach the spiritual needs of the listeners. The program remains very good, considering that I am a very critical listener on theological approaches. Until then, I have reason to celebrate, whether for the musical repertoire, the messages presented, especially the Bible reading that begins with the broadcasts. May God continue to bless you.
May God bless you all with a great new year full of peace and hope, Happy 2021
