Recollecting our visit to Cuba and observation regarding religious freedom in this beautiful country, we broadcast our program, “Around the World.”
We worshiped in the Cojimar Church of Christ and met with wonderful and kind Cuban Christians; visited Catholic Church (here pictured), Russian Orthodox Church, a synagogue and a mosque in Havana.
“Early Christians and their struggle in ancient society” in our program, History of Christianity. Life and everyday behavior in Christian communities were in staggering contradiction to the life of ordinary citizens. Christians worshiped only one God, didn’t show any respect to multi gods, which Christians considered as idolatry; didn’t have sexual relationship outside marriage, lived in multinational communities, were very forgiving to their enemies, etc. Truly it was a revolutionary approach to social life and belief.
The hymn, “I Sing the Mighty Power of God,” by Isaac Watts, was written in 1715. The author is universally known as “The Father of English Hymnody.” He had a passion for improving congregational singing. He wrote many paraphrased versions of the psalms. Watts believed that writers should be free to express praise and devotion to God in their own words. These texts became known as “Hymns of Human Composure.” He was considered a revolutionary churchman for his time. In this series of segments we continue to study and listen to Christian hymns and the authors behind wonderful a Capella compositions thanks to our great friend and missionary in many countries, Graham McKay, and his immense expertise in this subject.
We continue to study the Old Testament and hope to convince you that a knowledge of old scripts is important in understanding of New Testament. The history and background of events described in the Old Testament is always our main subject in programming. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“Son of God.” Jesus declared that He himself will be the judge who decides where people spend eternity. Such statements drew real anger from His enemies but Jesus never backed down on His words; he always insisted that He has the right to judge humanity because He is the Son of God as it says in the book of John 20:31. We continue our narration about the life and deeds of Jesus Christ in a program, “In His Name.”
We have a number of projects under development that might be interesting to you. Come and download numerous Christian books, listen to our programs, see several video lessons based on Russian Christian art, take a look at pictures of beautiful Alaska, the home of our first radio station, KNLS.
Thanks for reading and for listening!!
