We Connect With Chinese Listeners
Relationships between China and the United States intensified since last May. While economic competition and political difference between the two countries await for solutions, Chinese and Americans face the same kind of challenges every day, such as family issues, health problem, personal struggles, daily responsibilities, etc. As peacemakers, we pray for God’s blessings for leaders of both countries and we serve Chinese people worldwide by bringing them inspiring and helpful radio program with the gospel of Jesus. Prayerfully, many listeners will see in Jesus’ message the solution to problems which confront them. Even though the political climate for the time being encourages not correspondence, God opens some windows for us to learn how and where our services are connecting with Chinese listeners. We hope this report contributes to your understanding of where the Chinese language service is to some extent and how to pray for us as we move forward.
When we entered 2021, on average about 350 people visited our website on the daily basis, which remained about the same during the first quarter of this year. After the Bible Reading Live Streaming project was completed early this year, we spent more time to engage with website visitors through providing more audio and reading material related to marriage, parenting, Bible verses, biblical studies, or simply things catching people’s attention on the media. The number of website visitors began to rise as a result. In June tractions occurred and our website visitors tripled. For a few days in June 1,300 people visited our website daily. At its peak, 1,674 people read various articles or listened to our radio programs on our website on June 7. Even when the visitors dropped some in July, 887 people visited our Chinese website yesterday. Overall in 2021, one hundred thousand people visited, and two hundred thousand visits were made to our website.
We thank God for each listener and website visitor and for the fact that they and we could connect on air or via internet by God’s will. Please pray that God would enable each one to remember what they’ve heard and read. May their understanding about God increase and their faith in Jesus be strengthened. May their desire to be forgiven by God through Jesus grow. Please pray that they would revisit our website often, if not daily. Please pray for Shumei Lee, Salina Ho, and stringers who contribute so much to our programming. Please pray that God would raise many more volunteers in the near future who would devote their time and service to enrich our programs, such as what Mr. Wen Xu (pictured here) did for us in July by providing a young voice to the making of our new station ID.
We have no way to measure how many who listen to our daily radio program, however we have a software to measure how many website visitors who tune in to our live streaming Bible Reading. On July 27 alone listeners from twenty countries, ranging from China, Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Australia, United States, Canada, Italy, Brazil to Uganda, Laos, Ireland, Germany, Sweden, and Argentina tuned in Chinese Bible reading on our website. In the month of May, 2,643 unique listeners spent a total 589 hours and listened 4,737 chapters of the Bible. More than thirteen thousand people listened to Chinese Bible through our Bible reading Live Streaming service from sixty countries around the world during the first half of 2021.
Few highlights about our July programming. As the pandemic posts a new threat through the delta variant of the Coronavirus, we highlighted the importance of faith in Jesus in the month of July. Because God is a living God who interacts with those who believe in Him, Mrs. Mei of Malaysia could arrive at a new level of realization of how God loves her while her prayers remained unanswered according to her wish; Mrs. Wei of Hong Kong could face recuring cancer in her son with a stronger faith of Jesus. While cancer has spread into her lung, spine, and liver, Ms. Marczewski could inspire millions with her proclamation of faith and her performance of her original song “It’s O.K.” at her America’s Got Talent debut. Ms. Liu of China could turn a heavy workload at school which nearly forced her to resign into a service with the love of Jesus to her students.
As I conclude this report, I like to thank you sincerely for your interests in our missionary efforts. Your prayers are crucial in carrying us through when we are weak and uncertain about how we are doing in serving Chinese listeners. Your prayers have prompted God to render helps to where we lack. Your faithful supports secure our daily presence among Chinese communities worldwide. Please continue praying for listeners, that God helps us every day making connection with listeners strong, and that God enables the faith of Jesus to grow daily in their heart. And, I do pray God’s blessings for you and your family too.
