I Don’t Understand Why
Why do I have to experience pain and suffering? Why is there so much injustice in the world? Why does God not answer my prayers? These are some of the questions that many of our listeners struggle with. To be honest, I personally grapple with these issues and it’s difficult to find satisfying answers.
Our team recently surveyed our audience, and their friends around, to find out what questions they have on their minds. There were many, but the top issues included: Who am I? What is my identity and my value? What is my purpose in life? How do I know God’s will? How do we reconcile God’s sovereignty with our free will? If Jesus defeated Satan, why do we still have to fight against him?
Our latest program series “I Don’t Understand Why” attempts to discuss these matters in a way helpful to our young audience. From our interaction with listeners through the years, we found out that they prefer open discussion more than dogmatic preaching. In this program, Joe, a young pastor, meets with a couple of young people over coffee and they talk about these issues.
In some cases, we don’t have all the answers. I can tell you that I hate not having answers, but it’s part of our faith journey. A friend of mine wrote an Arabic song titled “Moving Forward With No Answers.” God wants us to trust Him, His love and goodness, even when we don’t have answers. It reminds us of what Jesus said to Peter, “You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.” (John 13:7)
We pray that this new series will be a source of encouragement to many of our listeners who struggle with these questions. Please continue to pray for our audience and our team.
