It’s great that we can reach September of another year! Here in Brazil it will be spring, I think it’s my favorite season of the year, because it’s neither too cold nor too hot, and the flowers and vegetation are very pretty. With that, we’ll also have a little rain, which is good for a more pleasant environment.
When September begins, I also remember that we’re one month away from celebrating another anniversary of our broadcasts in Portuguese. Our listeners are already very excited and anxious to receive a promotional sticker, which we always produce at this time of year.
Another important milestone this month is that on September 7th we celebrate the independence of Brazil. A very special and celebrated day, being a national holiday. On this date, many families take the opportunity to travel or spend time with loved ones. Others still take the opportunity to watch the military parade that always takes place on the main avenues of the cities.
On September 07th, Brazil’s National Radio Day is celebrated, a historic and extremely important moment for radio broadcasting in Brazil. This year, we’re celebrating 102 years!
Regarding our broadcasts, we have been talking about the process of salvation in recent months. We have already covered topics such as sin, good news and baptism. In September, our theme will be Who Jesus is and how his sacrifice sets us free. This study is part of the Let the Bible Speak content, which Nilton Barreto is responsible for.
We have continued the studies that Andy Baker has been doing, called Prayer Lessons. In addition, we have continued to translate and record the Encounters with Jesus studies by Gayle Crowe.
Beliza Patricia is our collaborator. She has done incredible work with the children, using playful and easy-to-understand language. We are using this content on Sundays and I believe that many children and their parents have been blessed.
In August, we held a raffle for a Bible that was shared on Instagram and Facebook. To participate, people had to start following us on our social networks and also tag 3 friends. The raffle was held on August 31st and the winner was Ranny Xavier.
We continue to receive and respond to our listeners via email, mail and also on WhatsApp. In the last month, we have received several contacts from many parts of the world and from Brazil. I would like to highlight our listener from Costa Rica, Joandric Ávila, who said:
My full name is Joandric Ávila Fernández, I am 19 years old and I am from Siquirres, Limón, Costa Rica.
I am currently studying Political Science at the University of Costa Rica.
I once played with my grandparents’ old radios and I remember listening to stations in other languages without knowing what they were. I started dexism and learning about shortwaves in 2022. Since then, I have received many QSL cards and have made many friends.
Palavra Alegre is one of the most popular stations, thanks to its evangelical broadcast that preaches the Word of God every day through invisible waves, just like God, but we know that they are there and always with us.
We also received a message from Alex Paul from São Paulo, who is a frequent listener and says that he really appreciates our program and that the signal reaches his city very well. 1 He said: “Romulo, thank you for sending me the QSL card. This is the first one I have received and I have heard your broadcast via battery-powered radio. I am really happy. I will even make a picture to highlight it.”
Finally, I would like to wish a happy spring to everyone in the southern hemisphere and a happy autumn to those in the northern hemisphere. God bless you all.
