What’s Going On-January 2024
December is always a happy time because of Christmas. For Christians one reasons of joy includes Christ is remembered by people around the world only during this time of the year. Even many Chinese who are not Christians would want to make efforts to visit a church in their hometown on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, because this is a fashionable and timely thing to do. Therefore, exhibiting God’s efforts through which He facilitated the birth of His Son in our radio program and on our website is front and center of our production in December.
Messianic prophecies and their fulfillments, Mary and Joseph, dreams and visions, angels and miracles, Elisabeth and Zechariah, the birth of Jesus Christ, wise men and the star, King Herod and the manger in Bethlehem, the shepherds and heavenly hosts, etc., appear in our programs and on the Chinese website throughout December. We talk about these stories and their meanings in various ways. Some appear in radio drama, some by a storyteller, some through hymns, and some by the program guests and host, others by Bible reading. Our purpose is to help every listener to learn about who this baby is, what blessings would He bring to people around the world, and that how we present Jesus’ birth are interesting. The relationship between the Father and the Son is a powerful image. God’s arrangements for the birth of His Son and God’s protections to His Son are inspiring and admirable. We hope that listeners’ desire to become God’s child and trust in God would grow. We trust that God’s Spirit will continue interacting with each listener and website visitor. Please pray along with us that their faith will grow day by day.
In December we sent a few copies of the Chinese Bible out to those listeners who requested the Bible. It is encouraging to receive their request, an indication that some listeners want to know more about God after hearing our program or visiting our website. One listener says that I have hoped for a personal Bible for a long time, so it will be wonderful to receive the Bible from you. Another listener emails us with appreciation when the Bible arrived. Interestingly and to our surprise, one person, who did not know our radio program in the past, makes a request when his friend receives the Bible from us. We thank God for these listeners and their loved ones who are hungry for God’s words. Please pray for God’s blessings of understanding and wisdom for them. One listener encourages us by saying that “what you do is important, so persevere please in doing what you do now.”
We reach out to the Chinese far and near. As our Christmas broadcasts are heard worldwide in December, we also remember there are Chinese immigrants and oversea students living right here in middle Tennessee. We join local Chinese churches in welcoming them to enjoy a Christmas meal and to listen to Dr. Jianwei Li’s talks about Jesus. On Christmas Eve Sunday Mr. Ho accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. What a joyful way to remember and to celebrate the birth of Jesus
