Friends are precious. Our April fundraiser is always an exciting time because friends of World Christian Broadcasting (WCB) gather together to hear a report of what the Lord had done throughout the last year. Without friends’ support and prayers, regular daily operation of WCB would not be possible. So, we want to honor our friends intentionally with the annual fundraiser to thank them and to inform them. The staff works hard to put together an invitation, and makes sure the fundraiser is a good time for everyone.
More than two dozen Chinese friends attended the fundraiser 2023. Some are from local communities, while a few are from far away such as China, whom we met at local church outreach programs where they seek to know about Jesus and God. WCB fundraiser is an opportunity for young Christians and seekers to learn that the living God who prepared and worked with Christians of the first century doing evangelism is alive today and is leading the twenty-first century Christians telling the story of Jesus as well. While the Bible tells the story of how Jesus met with individuals with the gospel, WCB shows that same story of Jesus reaching more people daily and actively. Prayerfully, a lesson well learned could help build up their faith in God and inspire them to be life-long friends of this ministry where they, with Jesus in their hearts, can make a difference in the lives of people worldwide.
Among the Chinese friends at the fundraiser, some are in their seventies, fifties, while others are in their twenties, and even an early teen attended who was baptized on Easter 2023. We send young Christians our invitation, and they are interested in learning about how the churches are doing evangelism on a global scale in this century at our fundraiser. We are conscientious in building up faith of those friends whom God sends our way. We want God to see that every friend He sends our way is cherished and friendship is being cultivated intentionally so that His work is taken care of on a long-term perspective by WCB. God’s people is always the priority, not the money.
Comments coming back from friends afterward are positive. Ms. Zhu’s comment best represents the remarks of all Chinese friends. She was touched by the fact that such a large scale of people worldwide are impacted on daily basis by WCB, which is a ministry so close to her. That God is alive and is working today in the lives of people near her to send His good news to numerous audiences globally is something she has never thought about. Another highlight which strikes her heart and connects with her emotion is the adding of Korean language in 2023. Interestingly but not surprisingly, two years ago Chinese listeners wrote to us and requested that we broadcast in Korean language. This is simply because Koreans are neighbors of the Chinese. Neighbors care about each other. Today this love for neighbors is no longer a good wish, it is a reality. We thank God for loving Koreans. For you, friends of World Christian Broadcasting who care about God’s people and the mission of Christ, we thank you for making the Korean broadcast a reality. You know that WCB is not possible without you. We salute you and thank you. May God bless you and your family.
