Rain and Flooding
The year 2022 started and we can say that this first month was really intense and challenging for the world population and especially for the Brazilian people. In addition to the intense wave of the new omicron strain, Brazil has been suffering a wave of H3N2 flu. We have been breaking daily records of infected and often people don’t know if they have Covid or flu. Quick tests are getting harder and harder to find.
In addition to these virus problems, several regions of Brazil, including the region where we live, suffered from a lot of rain and flooding in several regions. The rains were intense and uninterrupted for more than 10 days, which caused rivers and lakes to overflow and invade streets, avenues, roads and houses.
Thank God this intense period of rains stopped and now churches, institutions and the population are mobilizing to raise funds, food and clothes for several homeless families. We can see through these actions, the love and grace of God, because even in the face of such a difficult situation people have shown solidarity and compassion with their neighbors. I ask everyone to continue to pray for the entire Brazilian population in this difficult time.
In our programming we continue to receive several contacts from our listeners and this January we sent more than 37 QSL cards. In addition to the ones sent to the various regions of Brazil, I want to highlight some that we send out of the country, among them an envoy to Cusco, Peru, Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Cuba and also to Ukraine.
Sending courses to these countries makes me very happy to know that our programming has reached the world. In addition to these QSL sent, another 5 asked for Bible courses and one of them wants to learn more deeply about the word of God.We also received an email from Antonio Argolo who said this about our program:
“Reception is excellent, sometimes I can hear the transmission even with the telescopic antenna down. I am happy for the sound quality of this reception period, hoping that it will always remain that way.
I listen to the station practically every day and I am very satisfied with the quality of the programming, with the music and variety of themes presented. These are messages that speak to my heart.
Therefore, I congratulate Word Alegre on its third anniversary in Portuguese. I consider it an essential initiative in Shortwave. In the last days there is a lack of messages committed to the true gospel of Jesus, messages that bring us closer to salvation and also increasingly to our neighbor, guiding us to live better, perfecting the virtues taught by the Master.”

We also received the photos of the winners of our 3 years draw, José Athair from the South of Brazil was the winner of the book Called to be Free based on the book of Galatas and Eduardo Araujo the winner of the book Imagens do Rádio.
Finally, I want to leave a verse that shows us how much God is with each of us and it says: “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10
