We hear from many of our listeners all over the world. I wish we could hear from all of them, but that’s not yet possible. A new listener recently sent us his comments about our broadcast. He simply wrote, “Wonderful!” I believe it is the shortest message we’ve ever received, but it says volumes.
We do our best to reach out to our listeners and connect with them where they are. Yes, we research our target audience, follow the news, find statistics, and talk to people on the ground, but still, we don’t know what’s going on in each listener’s private life and the issues the face every day.
A while back we used social media to survey a large sector of our audience to find out what they’re looking for and what problems they struggle with. We were surprised by the number of responses and the variety of issues. We collected over 200 significant questions that people asked all across the spectrum.
We divided the questions into 9 main categories: Family, self-esteem, God and faith, social relations, love relations, world issues, Christian principles, daily life challenges, and cyber world issues. Next, we lined up our best speakers in these areas to give some practical answers to these questions.
We didn’t want this programming segment to be routine. We wanted more interaction with our audience. We tried a new approach of posting a question on our Facebook page and give our followers a chance to talk and discuss the matter before we give our insight. The young generation prefer to work through the process in order to reach a solution rather than be told the answer.
As the global culture changes rapidly, we have to keep up. We must think outside the box. It’s hard to imagine what the world would look like in 20 years, 10 years, or even just 5 years from now – but we must keep our eyes on the prize and do the best we can, with God’s grace, to reach this generation.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)
