Most of us use GPS devices to find our way. Occasionally, the device shows a message that it is “recalculating.” I find it reassuring that the on-board computer is checking the current traffic conditions and finding the best route to my destination. As we start a new year and a new decade, we take a look at what we do and the best way to achieve our goals. It is always helpful to check the “5 Ws 1 H”—and, no, it is not your motor oil grade, yet it helps you move efficiently and smoothly!
Why
Why do we do what we do? Simply because Jesus commanded us to: “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of age.” (Matthew 28:19-20)
What
What is our message? It is the good news of salvation in the Lord Jesus Christ. The core of the message remains the same, but delivery methods may vary. Remember, most of our listeners are not church goers familiar with Christianese language. We encourage our listeners to “recalculate” their lives and choose the way to heaven. We do not see listeners as “statistics” but real people with real lives, and we try to mee them where they are.
Who
Who is our target audience? In case of our Arabic broadcast, our audience is the young generations between 18-39 years old, which makes up more that 75% of the population of over 400 million people. Older people in rural and remote areas listen to our shortwave broadcast, while younger people in metropolitan areas gravitate towards our social media platforms.
Where
Where do we send our radio signals? The great thing about shortwaves is that they go a long way! Our signals cover the entire region of the Middle East and North Africa and continue to spread all over Europe, where many Arabic-speaking immigrants live. Our broadcast was even picked up as far as Australia and North America! Meanwhile, our social media platforms go all over the world, wherever there is internet connection.
When
When do we broadcast? Well, everyday! We have two prime-time hours on shortwave, relayed daily on another AM station in the Middle East. The best timing, however, is on the website as we stream all programs around the clock, 24/7!
How
How can we achieve the goal? We do our part—sowing and watering the seeds—and trust the Lord to cause the growth and bring about the harvest of thirty, sixty and a hundred folds. We research our target audience and tailor our programs to their needs, and that is why people are attracted to our broadcast.
