At World Christian Broadcasting, the African Service produces programs that broadcast through shortwave radio in the Frequency of 11965 at 2000 UTC and on the Frequency of 13670 at 1800 UTC. The web programs available at www.africanpathways.org are accessible 24 hours daily. Shortwave radio provides the gospel of Jesus Christ to listeners who tune in from sub-Saharan Africa and beyond, and the Internet is opened to listeners all over who have access to the world wide web.

The population of the sub-Sahara Africa continues to grow at an astronomical rate. According to the World Bank, sub-Sahara Africa has grown from 186 million in 1950 to 856 million people in 2010. The geographical area adds over 11 million people to the world population every year, with an estimated 670 million people in the past 60 years. The World Bank estimates that by 2060, the population of sub-Sahara Africa may be over 2.7 billion people, while the population of Europe may decline from 738 million people in 2010 to 702 million in 2060.
The statistics above explain the opportunities available for World Christian Broadcasting and Africanpathways to strategize to meet future demands. In February of 2020, there have been listeners from Nigeria, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia tuning in to listen to the shortwave radio and surfing the web to listen to programs online. Outside of sub-Sahara Africa, we have received letters through listeners from Uttarpara, India, Malgrat de Mar, Spain, and Motala, Sweden among other nations. There are also many listeners within the United States listening to the Africanpathways program over the Internet.
