Donors, friends, and family members of our staff frequently fill our days of work with joy by visiting us at our operation center. One day this month a visitor filled my heart with joy and inspiration of honor. Mrs. Susan Perry from Abilene Texas, visited us with her niece. As Andy asked me to explain the Chinese calligraphy and drawing on the office walls, Mrs. Susan Perry stopped at a vertical banner, impressed and questioned, “Is this a daily life calligraphy for common Chinese people?” “No,” I replied, “that is the cursive calligraphy, a form of art in itself, appearing more often among Chinese artists when they pursued creative works.”
Susan hosts many fundraisers for World Christian Broadcasting (WCB) in Texas. She doesn’t travel to Tennessee often. But when she does, she makes sure to visit the WCB operation center. Why? Because Susan values what her parents did. Her father, Dr. Lowell Perry, died in an airplane accident during a trip to search for the site for KNLS in 1976. Her mother, Mrs. Earline Perry, served on our board for decades, before she passed two years ago. I am very thankful for how Susan had inspired me by the ways she chooses to honor her parents and her Father God.
Is This a Daily Life Calligraphy for Common People?
To me, Susan’s question serves as a mark of the radio programs produced at WCB. We prepare program contents for common people, and we communicate the gospel in quality as good as the artists. People we serve will believe in God and live the life of Jesus as they encounter WCB.
Mr. Lan encountered us five years ago. He listened to our program, met with us, and he was baptized. Today he is a dedicated student of the Bible, and he lives a life with a mission—to bless his fellow people with God’s wisdom from Jesus by writing a book. Recently, Mr. Lan told me he has finished a good part of the book. Some research work still need to be done. Although he is ill, yet he is thankful to God that his mind is still clear and he can think as well as before. Mr. Lan hopes to finish the book in his lifetime. Like an arrow in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. Mr. Lan is a child of this ministry. Please pray for God’s care of him and that he lives to complete his mission for his people and for God.
Some New Productions
We are happy to announce that our Bible reading production finished recording all the History Books in the Old Testament in November. We now have recorded half of the Book of Job, which I consider the most difficult Bible Book to read because of Job’s condition in suffering. Jesus’ word for the seven churches in the Book of Revelation has been treasured by many churches throughout history.
Talented people continue to provide help for our Chinese programming.
- We finished a seven interview series this month with the help of Mr. Yin.
- As a college president, Dr. Lin recommended the Bible as a must read book to our listeners in a telephone interview.
- In a three part interview, Mr. Wu gave wisdom and advice from the Bible to young people as some of them are dealing with loneliness, suicide thoughts, poor communication with parents, breaking-up in relationships, etc.
Some Program Highlights This Month
- Three different ways the English word “serve” is often used in America.
- Wisdom for parents to encourage them to pray for their children.
- What a father did to assist his child in time of unemployment.
- How a wife changed attitudes toward her husband to secure happy atmosphere at home.
- A traditional story teller told the struggle and reason which led Pilate sentenced Jesus to death.
- The Earth constantly engages in high speed movements in the universe, yet
- God is able to allow human beings to enjoy the stillness at the same time.
- God’s four powerful wisdom guides four persons through depression, business failure, marriage difficulty, and life and death accidents.Transitional Needs
In order to maximize future production, Salina and I have been learning a few computer skills these past few months in Studio C, hoping to free up Shumei so she could write and translate new programming more. Salina is learning to edit her interviews. Edward Ho assembles program segments saved in the data base into the one hour daily programs, preparing them to be exported in mp3 format for Kok Hai Tan to put them on our Chinese website so they could be available on smart phones and computers for people speaking Mandarin Chinese language.
