“And behold, a man came up to him, saying, ‘Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?’” One of the most profound ideas can be found in parables of Jesus. Often it’s hard to deliver thoughts and concepts through verbal description and one needs vivid examples to communicate with people. Jesus was the master of speeches and logic and the most profound one was when he talked in parables. We study them in our series “Book of Books.”
From our recent trip to the northeast United States we bring you narration about one of the oldest universities of this country—Yale, Princeton, Harvard. They were established centuries ago as Bible proclaiming colleges and through the centuries they have brought old Christian traditions to modern days. Also in the same series, “Traveling in America,” we bring you our emotions after visiting Niagara Falls—one of the most spectacular places in the whole North America.
In our series of segments about hymns we continue to study and listen to Christian hymns and the authors behind wonderful a Capella compositions thanks to our great friend and missionary in many countries, Graham McKay, and his immense expertise in this subject. “May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ” (Galatians 6:14) is in harmony with the a Capella song “Jesus Keep Me Near the Cross” by Fanny Crosby. She was often asked by composers to put familiar words to a new tune. Sometimes she would listen to the tune and say, “That tune says to me…” It is amazing how often she found a perfect fit. That happened with this great song about the cross. Her friend William Doane made such a request and she came through. The central idea is the cross and our goal is to stay near it.
We continue to study the Old Testament and hope to convince you that a knowledge of old scripts is important in understanding of New Testament. The history and background of events described in the Old Testament is always our main subject in programming. “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17
“Son of God.” Jesus declared that He himself will be the judge who decides where people spend eternity. Such statements drew real anger from His enemies but Jesus never backed down on His words; he always insisted that He has the right to judge humanity because He is the Son of God as John 20:31 says. We continue our narration about the life and deeds of Jesus Christ in a program, “In His Name.”
We have a number of projects under development that might be interesting to you. Come and download numerous Christian books, listen to our programs, see several video lessons based on Russian Christian art, take a look at pictures of beautiful Alaska, the home of our first radio station, KNLS.
Thanks for reading and for listening!!
