A VISION OF EXCELLENCE

The world has been captivated by the 2008 Olympics.  12,000 of the world’s top athletes have gathered in China to participate in the modern version of games that began over 2,000 years ago in ancient Greece.  Television viewers all over the world have watched in amazement at almost-superhuman displays of strength and skill.  Regardless of their countries of origin, these athletes are united in their desire to pursue excellence, making their countries proud. Along with great Olympic achievements, the world has watched crushing defeats.  Young athletes train for years, they make countless sacrifices to become the best they can be, they dream about Olympic gold—but then at the moment of pressure they fall or miss a step.

Moments of glory are wonderful at the time, but they don’t last.  Failures, disappointments—these are an ever-present fact of life.  This website—and the work of World Christian Broadcasting that stands behind it—is based on the hope that today’s failures will lead to better tomorrows.  A better life doesn’t happen by chance.  It happens only because we live in the presence and under the direction of a God whose gifts are lavish and unending.  Thanks to him, hundreds of thousands of people every day listen to KNLS from Alaska—some in Chinese, some in Russian, some in English—and they see a vision of excellence in God’s plan for their lives.

Welcome to these pages.  Stay as long as you can, read as much as you can, and at the end, let us know what you think.  Write abaker@worldchristian.org.
