Who are these women? Where do they live? Why are they resting? God knows. They are his daughters, and he wants only the best for them.
These women—and billions like them—are the reason World Christian Broadcasting continues to broadcast 20 hours a day. Whether they are looking for answers to the big questions of life, or whether they know there are questions to be asked, KNLS in Anchor Point, Alaska, is sending out 20 hours a day of life-giving words to the shortwave radios in their homes.
The Broadcasting Board of Governors is an independent federal agency responsible for all non-military U.S. broadcasting entities. In an interview posted on the Voice of America website, Jeffrey Trimble, executive director of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, spoke of the future of shortwave broadcasting throughout the world. His conclusion was that shortwave radio remains—and will remain for the foreseeable future—an “absolutely vital and indispensable delivery platform.”
Shortwave radio, Mr. Trimble said, is the only way U.S. international broadcasting can reach into China. Iran, also is “another place where you can’t get local signals in.” In many areas of Africa, shortwave radio is “crucial.”
We continue to receive encouraging letters from around the world. One listener from Ontario, Canada, complimented us by saying, “When compared to other Christian broadcasters on shortwave, I find that KNLS is the most fun to listen to.” They come because we’re fun. They stay to learn what God would have them know.
